Each year we have a family Valentines Day “party” at our house. We usually make Red Lobster at home, eat Valentine treats, and watch a movie. I’ll use fun Valentine themed plates and cups and “party decor”. It’s a super simple evening, but it’s become tradition, and it’s something I look forward to each year! Following with tradition, that’s the exact same thing we will be doing together this year to celebrate Valentines Day. We will eat fried shrimp, baked potatoes, salad, and cheddar bay biscuits. My mouth is watering already!
We usually buy some Valentine party supplies on Amazon (you can get them in a bundle) or Target and we are able to get a 2 or 3 years use out of them!
Here is a look back at a few of our past Valentine’s Day family parties. I love looking back at these memories of when T and K were so young!
Valentines Day falls in between mine and my Poppy’s birthdays. His is Feb 13 and mine is Feb 15. When I was growing up we used to have a small joint birthday celebration with family and my Nana would make two cakes. One was my favorite, rainbow chip .. and the other was Poppy’s favorite, German Chocolate with her homemade frosting. For Valentines Day I try to make a German chocolate cake with her homemade frosting. It makes me think of Poppy, and remember all those fun little get togethers in the evening standing at their kitchen bar blowing out candles on our cakes together. Later this week I’m going to share that frosting recipe with you. It’s so good and so special to me!
